The Foundation for Unimpeded Education (ENEV) was established on June 12, 2015, with the aim of contributing to the development of society in the fields of education, health, and culture. The foundation aims to bring young people together with education at international standards, introducing them to high technology, advanced techniques, and current scientific developments.
One of ENEV’s first projects, Istanbul Kent University, was established following the foundation’s application, in accordance with Article 130 of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey and Article 12 of Law No. 2547 on Higher Education, through the additional Article 167 of Law No. 6745 on September 7, 2016. As a foundation higher education institution with public legal personality, Istanbul Kent University started its educational activities with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Health, School of Civil Aviation, Vocational School of Health Services, Vocational School, Institute of Social Sciences, and Institute of Health Sciences.
Istanbul Kent University operates on a campus spread over 22,000 square meters in the historic buildings of the German Hospital in Taksim, established on April 6, 1846, with contributions from the D.W.V German Charity Society. The university accepted its first students in the 2017-2018 Academic Year, providing education to 760 students across 19 programs and departments within 2 faculties and 1 vocational school in its first year.
In line with its mission to contribute to Turkey’s development, the university awarded special scholarships to female and disabled students in its first two years. From the 2019-2020 Academic Year onwards, it has been offering more inclusive ÖSYM scholarships, Trustee Support Scholarships, and scholarships for students in need, instead of the female student scholarships. Scholarships for disabled students continue based on the degree of disability.
As of the 2022-2023 Academic Year, Istanbul Kent University educates approximately 6,000 students across 60 departments/programs, including a Graduate Education Institute, 4 Faculties (Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Art and Design), 2 Vocational Schools, a School of Foreign Languages, and 8 Application and Research Centers. The university continues to contribute to the higher education sector with 219 academic and 224 administrative staff.
ENEV opened the Kağıthane Campus in the 2022-2023 Academic Year, as a major indicator of its investment in education. This campus, built according to the latest technological innovations, includes 54 classrooms, 39 laboratories, sports and game areas, cafes, social areas, a library, a cafeteria, and workshops across 14 floors.
The Faculty of Dentistry, established on March 29, 2018, became a member of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) on August 13, 2021, maintaining international quality standards.
Istanbul Kent University offers students opportunities to study abroad through international student mobility programs such as Erasmus, creating a global education environment for international students. The university's central location, strong academic staff, and emphasis on exchange programs are among the reasons it is preferred by international students.
