Koç University is a non-profit foundation university that began its educational journey in 1993 at its temporary campus in İstinye. In 2000, it moved to its permanent campus in Rumeli Feneri. The Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV), known for its significant contributions in education, health, and culture, established Koç University to fulfill the late Vehbi Koç's vision of nurturing well-educated young people. The university is committed to becoming a "Center of Excellence" by cultivating qualified experts and leaders. Its mission is to prepare extraordinary young individuals for leadership roles, thus securing the nation's future. Since its establishment, Koç University has become one of the most prestigious universities in Turkey.
Today, Koç University offers education through its Colleges of Humanities and Letters, Administrative and Economic Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Nursing. It provides 22 undergraduate, 43 master's, and 30 doctoral programs, contributing to scientific advancement both in Turkey and globally.
