Dokuz Eylül University was founded on July 20, 1982. Our university started its academic activities with a total of 24 units with the newly opened Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Institute of Social Sciences, Institute of Health Sciences, School of Maritime Business and Management, Faculty of Education and School of Fine Arts.
As of today, Dokuz Eylül University continues its scientific research and higher education mission with a social service approach with a total of 42 Application and Research Centers, including 10 Institutes, 18 Faculties, 2 Postgraduate Schools, 1 Conservatory and 2 Application and Research Hospitals.
Approximately 72,400 students are enrolled at Dokuz Eylül University, including more than 6,300 international students from 114 countries. Approximately 3,000 academic staff and approximately 4,900 administrative staff work at the university.
The university's campus area is covered with forests, approximately 3,111,315 m2, which corresponds to 55.5% of the total campus area. Approximately 622,754 m2 of land within the different campuses is enriched with various plant and flower species.
