Eskişehir Osmangazi University was established on August 18, 1993, by Decree Law No. 496, and it was separated from Anadolu University, along with the faculties of Engineering-Architecture, Medicine, and Arts and Sciences, and the University Hospital. Additionally, Eskişehir Health Vocational School, Health Services Vocational School, Institutes of Sciences, Health Sciences, Educational Sciences, and Social Sciences, as well as the newly opened Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, were restructured under Osmangazi University. The name of the university was changed to "Eskişehir Osmangazi University" by Law No. 5379 on July 1, 2005.
Although legally established in 1993, the founding year of 1970 of the Eskişehir State Academy of Engineering and Architecture (EDMMA) is considered as the establishment year of the university. In 1994, the Sivrihisar Vocational School was established, followed by the Faculties of Agriculture and Divinity in 1995, the Faculty of Education in 1998, and the Faculty of Dentistry in 2008. Mahmudiye Horse Breeding Vocational School was established in the 2007-2008 academic year, followed by the Faculty of Arts and Design in 2009, the Faculty of Tourism in 2013, and the Faculty of Law in 2018. The Faculty of Health Sciences began admitting students in the 2016-2017 academic year, and in 2022, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences was closed and replaced by the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Çifteler Vocational School was opened in 2023.
The total campus area of Eskişehir Osmangazi University is 2,880,830 square meters, with 80,000 square meters allocated for classrooms, laboratories, and offices, 50,000 square meters for social facilities and libraries, and 62,000 square meters for health services. It operates in the Meşelik, Bademlik, Ali Numan Kıraç, Sivrihisar, Sarıcakaya, Mahmudiye, Çifteler, and Organized Industrial Zone campuses.
With 52 years of scientific accumulation, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, a prestigious and strong university, continues to produce knowledge with 13 faculties, 1 college, 6 vocational schools, 4 institutes, and 40 application and research centers, and it progresses steadily on the path of contemporary science.
