The foundations of Boğaziçi University were laid in 1863 by educator, inventor, technician and architect Dr. Cyrus Hamlin and New York philanthropist and wealthy merchant Mr. Christopher Rheinlander Robert, with the establishment of Robert College, the first American college outside the United States, in Istanbul.
Boğaziçi University is one of the leading institutions of higher education in Turkey and has seven campuses spread over an area of 1,672,106 m². The university offers a variety of undergraduate programs in which the language of instruction is entirely English and has achieved international success in many scientific fields.
It strives to contribute to humanity by producing science and technology and presenting them as a service to society, as well as by encouraging and leading the existence and dissemination of science, art and culture within society.
