Bilkent, Turkey's first foundation university, has a rich history. Its establishment preparations began in 1967, and it came to life on a vast land in the west of Ankara. Built on these foundations, the university today holds a pioneering position in research with over 50,000 alumni. Bilkent graduates are successfully represented in leading companies in Turkey and around the world, as well as in public and higher education institutions.
Bilkent University was established on October 20, 1984, by the İhsan Doğramacı Foundations. Today, the university offers 29 undergraduate and 59 graduate programs within 3 institutes and 10 faculties, known worldwide with over 12,000 students and faculty members from 39 countries.
The educational approach of the university focuses on developing students' abilities in original thinking and making reasoned decisions. These qualities, combined with strong subject knowledge and a mature worldview, lead Bilkent graduates to success. Through exchange agreements with 332 universities from 4 continents, Bilkent expands the international vision of its students.
Since its establishment, Bilkent University has been at the forefront of international scientific publications, playing a pioneering role in higher education. According to the Higher Education Institutions Report of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) for the year 2021, the university stands out as the institution allocating the highest budget to library expenses.
Established in 1988, the Career Center guides students in their post-diploma plans, bridging the gap between students, graduates, and the business world. As one of the first units of its kind in Turkey, the Career Center now operates as the Career and Alumni Office. Students and graduates can upload their resumes to the office's database and apply online for internships and job postings from member companies.
