The Health Sciences University was established with the aim of being a bridge "From Past to Future" in line with the initial mission of the Imperial School of Medicine. The university provides education and continues its academic activities at the Imperial School of Medicine (Hamidiye) Complex, Gülhane Complex, Somali Complex, Uzbekistan Complex, and Sudan Complex.
The university has the authority to collaborate with foreign higher education institutions, including areas such as opening programs in foreign languages and conducting joint programs. Additionally, foreign students can be admitted to programs taught in foreign languages. With the proposal of the Board of Trustees, approval of the Senate, and the favorable opinion of the Higher Education Council, units belonging to the university can be established abroad by the decision of the Council of Ministers. In this context, efforts to establish educational units in Afghanistan, Palestine, Pakistan, Syria, the Philippines, and Lebanon are ongoing.
The university conducts healthcare practice and research activities by signing cooperation protocols with training and research hospitals affiliated with the Turkish Public Hospitals Institution. The training and research hospitals covered by the cooperation protocol are also considered as application and research centers of the university.
With the aim of developing products and materials, especially in areas such as healthcare software, healthcare consultancy services, and biomedical engineering services, the "Health Sciences University Technology Development Zone Health Technopolis" was established. A 55,742.88 square meter area in the Esenyalı neighborhood of Pendik district in Istanbul was allocated for this purpose by the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 19.02.2018, and its establishment has been completed and started to serve.
