Kocaeli University was established in 1992 and stands out due to its location in a significant geographical area and its inheritance of cultural heritage. Today, it serves in a total closed area of 510,153 m², with 337,554 m² of it being on the Umuttepe campus, providing education at associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels to approximately 64,000 students.
Operating with a sense of belonging among students and staff, the university has achieved significant momentum. Therefore, it operates under the motto "Educating, Researching, and Producing for Our Turkey".
The main campus of Kocaeli University, Umuttepe Campus, is one of the rare campuses in Turkey and the world, being the first planned campus in Turkey. Covering an area of 778,466 m², it proudly hosts various facilities such as sports facilities, research and application hospitals, modern educational units, and social areas.
Kocaeli University, with its 19 faculties, 3 colleges, 16 vocational schools, 4 institutes, and 1 state conservatory, is a comprehensive educational institution operating on 15 different campuses.
The university provides rich opportunities for students, creating a vibrant environment filled with social, cultural, and sports activities, positioning itself as one of Turkey's leading universities. Being a leader in student activities with 119 student clubs and associations, the university contributes to social responsibility activities and hosts social-cultural events through its clubs.
In line with the vision of becoming a Research University, Kocaeli University has established structures such as Corporate R&D Coordination and Project Support Office. The university's current main goal is to achieve the title of "RESEARCH UNIVERSITY" within this program.
