In 1997, the Sani Konukoğlu Foundation was selected as the "Foundation of the Year" among 4500 foundations operating in the fields of "Education and Health" across Turkey. On June 18, 2013, the foundation established SANKO University, preparing it for opening. The main campus of the university is located in the most central point of Gaziantep and comprises the main building and the SANKO University Sani Konukoğlu Practice and Research Hospital. The main building is designed to meet the academic and social needs of students through its physical features, technological infrastructure, and academic and administrative staff.

Adjacent to the main building, the SANKO University Sani Konukoğlu Practice and Research Hospital is one of Turkey’s most comprehensive private hospitals. The university offers its academic and administrative staff and students the opportunity to benefit from the SANKO University Culture House and the Abdulkadir Konukoğlu Sports and Culture Center, which is part of the Private SANKO Schools, for social, sports, and cultural activities.
