Türkiye Scholarships is a higher education scholarship program for international students for all degrees in all higher education institutions in Turkey. After making online applications, the selected students are placed in the relevant higher education institutions by YÖK. Turkey scholarship students receive monthly scholarships and can stay in public university dormitories without paying any fees. Students do not pay any tuition or other school expenses, and have public health insurance. Moreover, Turkish scholarship students are paid for transportation expenses for their first visit to Turkey and for their return after graduation.
YÖK Scholarships are designed for international students at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels in countries that have signed a protocol with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). With these programs, students who are placed in higher education programs in Turkey are offered one year of Turkish language preparation if they do not have a Turkish Proficiency Certificate.
There are different scholarship options, including scholarships provided by the official authorities of the Republic of Turkey, scholarships provided by the students’ own governments, scholarships offered by various national and international institutions and organizations, and universities’ own scholarships. The opportunities and amounts offered by scholarship giving organizations vary. Some of these institutions also cover transportation costs from other countries to Turkey. Monthly scholarship amounts vary based on the education level, knowledge and skills of international students.
In both public and foundation universities, scholarships with different contents are also given to a certain percentage of accepted students. These scholarships can be full or partial tuition fee scholarships, success scholarships or support scholarships. Some of these scholarships may cover academic materials, accommodation, food and beverage expenses, and special requirements.
Tuition Fees
Fees are applied differently in public universities and foundation (private) universities. While fees in public universities are determined by YÖK and the Presidency, taking into account the type and duration of studies in different majors, fees in foundation universities are determined by the university administrations.
Students are responsible for paying tuition fees for each semester before registering at the beginning of the semester. Tuition fees of universities can be found on their official websites.
